So you want to post on Unconventional.

We’re super hype about this. Like, fr. We’d love to host your content. Selfishly bc that means we can probably get away with not writing our own blog post this week. Unselfishly because we love being able to promote dope companies and contributors to our audience.

But, with great power comes great responsibility. Here’s what you need to know to snag the keys to the kingdom.

what we will post

Our audience is primarily event marketers, with a smattering of other event professionals, agency owners, and CMPs.

As such, we only post blogs on related topics: event marketing, event technology & event planning.

So, as much as we think your GOT plot theory piece deserves to be seen by like, everyone (seriously), unfortunately we’re not able to host it on Unconventional at this time.

Other things we look for.

  • Original concepts, compelling arguments, and high-quality writing. If it’s already been published elsewhere, it’s sadly, not qualified to post on Unconventional.

  • Your piece should reflect our writing style & tone. We aim to be casual, direct, and helpful. We hate buzzwords, jargon, and stupid acronyms that everyone has to google.

  • Authors, quotes, and outside content should all be properly referenced.

  • Please don’t link back to your company’s website more than thrice (and try to make each of them point to a different page)

what we won’t post

  • Anything that's been covered on our blog before. Please do a quick search before submitting your article.

  • Anything that could be construed as a link-building scheme.

  • Anything that's too promotional for your company or organization.

  • Anything that's offensive or inaccurate.

  • Anything that's overly critical of individuals or companies -- this is not a site to air grievances.

How to submit it

Please email marketing[at]swoogo[dot]com with the following:

  • Your completed post as an editable Google Doc or Word Doc.

  • Image files (with attribution), included both within the document and attached separately. Swoogo will create your blog header and social image.

  • A short author bio including, with a maximum of one anchor text link to your own website.

If we’re picking up what you’re putting down, we’ll confirm with you ASAP if your article will be published. This process may take up to 24-48 hours.

Some small print

Not everything that’s submitted to us is going to be a perfect fit— don’t take it personally, but there’s a chance we won’t be able to post your piece. If/when we do publish your article, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • We ask that you don’t republish your piece elsewhere after we’ve published it.

  • We love it when you share your stuff from our blog. Like we’re obsessed. Share it. We’ll like it and retweet it and all that jazz.

  • We do reserve the right to edit or adapt your blog content if need be. We may also update it in the future to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.

  • Your blog may have a CTA for Swoogo content at the end of it. Can you blame us? It is our site, after all.
